In addition to the work that 4NRg undertakes for third parties, it spends a considerable amount of time on original research out of which have come the following opportunities:

Tidal Harvester Ltd.

Tidal Harvester specialises in tidal energy devices. The core product is the Tidal Harvester 2 (TH2), which has several patents protecting it, is a simple, robust yet unique concept, designed to minimise manufacturing and O&M costs, to maximise profitability over its entire lifetime. The target price is around £3m for each 1mw device, which will generate £1m annually, have a break even time of 4-5 years, and a life of around 40 years. More...

Coastal Erosion Elimination

CEE has a prototype device (a scale model of which has already been sea trialled) for combining the combating of coastal erosion and the generation of electricity into a single device. Fundamentally it removes much of the energy from the tidal flow (creating electricity), but also reduces its speed sufficiently to allow sediment to drop out of suspension onto the sea floor and build up sand banks to create first line protection for the coast. Wave energy devices

4NRg currently have five different wave devices under development. One has been modified to be used in the coastal erosion device, one is a strong candidate to be combined with the Tidal Harvester to make the energy generation more efficient, and the others continue to be developed as stand alone devices. Wave and flow tank

As a by product of trying to get a wave and flow tank facility built in Lowestoft over the last two years, 4NRg hold a patent for a modular system which allows you to quickly and simply specify and build the exact tank you require for your research, rather than having to select an off-the-shelf one. This approach has meant that in many cases it is a cheaper and quicker alternative to buying a standard model. More...
