4NRg are currently in the final stages of negotiating the installation of a new wave and flow tank facility to be based close to the OrbisEnergy building in Lowestoft. This is expected to be completed by January of 2011. The facility will house two tanks which will be capable of combining both flow and wave motion to create a realistic model of conditions found in the North Sea. One will be 8m by 1m and primarily for the purpose of testing devices, the second will be 8m by 4m and primarily for modelling actions along the coast or in the sea.

The tanks will be available for hire with or without technicians, will be made available to local education establishments at discounted rates, and will also be used to improve the modelling work being carried out on 4NRg's own projects.

In addition, there will be workshop facilities available so that modifications or changes to models can be done on-site to ensure quick turnaround and maximum use of the flow tank facility.

The creation of this facility has only been possible because of the generous support of the local community and including: Peter Aldous MP; Suffolk councillors - Mary Rudd, Bill Mountford and Kathy Gosling; Waveney District Council; and local entrepreneur Peter Colby. Our sincerest thanks to all of them.
